Tychem® TK:
the highest level of protection.
Specifically developed for protection against toxic, corrosive
gases, liquids and solid chemicals and is perfectly suited for industrial, HazMat,
and domestic preparedness applications. Tychem TK offers dependable protection
with proven performance over a wide range of chemicals.
Tychem® TK
exhibits outstanding chemical barrier properties. An extremely durable
fabric that's puncture and tear resistant, it's barrier
has been tested against 260 challenge chemicals. Excellent
permeation data from stringent ASTM testing substantiates
the uncompromised protection available with Tychem® TK.
The
lime-yellow color of Tychem® TK
is highly visible in both bright and dim light, offering
greater safety in emergency situations. Easily seen in
smoky or hazy environments, Tychem® TK is ideal for
hazardous material handling, domestic preparedness, emergency
response and transportation emergency teams.
NFPA
Standard 1991 set performance requirements for totally encapsulated
vapor tight chemical suits and includes rigid chemical and
flame resistance tests and a permeation test against 21 challenge
chemicals. Comprehensive
permeation and testing data is available here
in the Tychem Fabrics Permeation Guide (.pdf) (starting
on page 44)
Level B
situations call for the highest degree of respiratory protection
but a lesser need for skin protection. It calls for SCBA or
positive pressure supplied air respirator with escape SCBA,
plus hooded chemical resistant clothing (overalls and long
sleeved jacket; coveralls; one or two piece chemical-splash
suit; or disposable chemical-resistant coveralls. Level
B Manual (.pdf)
Level A
represents the greatest danger of respiratory, eye or skin
damage from hazardous vapors, gases, particulates, sudden splash,
immersion or contact with hazardous materials. It calls for
total encapsulation in a vapor tight chemical suit with self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA) or supplied air and appropriate
accessories. Level A Manual (.pdf)
Warning! Tychem® TK
is not flame resistant and should not be used around heat, flame, sparks,
or in potentially flammable or explosive environments. Garments made
of Tychem® TK should have slip resistant or antislip materials
on the outer surface of boots, shoe covers or other garment surfaces
in conditions where slipping could occur.
